What Qualifies as an AC Emergency in Aldrich?
Not every AC problem requires immediate attention, but certain situations demand prompt professional intervention. Here’s how to identify a true AC emergency:
Health and Safety Concerns
If your AC failure is creating conditions that threaten your family’s health or safety, it’s definitely an emergency. This includes:
Extreme indoor temperatures that pose risks to elderly family members, infants, or those with medical conditions
Unusual burning smells coming from your AC unit that could indicate electrical problems
Smoke or visible sparks from any component of your HVAC system
Strange noises like loud banging, screeching, or grinding that suggest imminent mechanical failure
Complete System Failure
When your AC stops working entirely during periods of extreme heat, this constitutes an emergency, especially if:
Indoor temperatures are rising rapidly
You’ve attempted basic troubleshooting (checking thermostat, breakers, filters) without success
The system won’t turn on at all or shuts down immediately after starting
Water Leakage and Property Damage
Significant water leakage from your AC unit that threatens to damage your property requires immediate attention. This might present as:
Water dripping through ceiling tiles or walls
Pooling water near indoor components that could damage flooring or cause electrical hazards
Ice formation on the evaporator coil or refrigerant lines indicating a serious system problem
